Working-Group "i-12"

The Working-Group "i-12" (Strategiekreis "i-12") is an informal group of IT-societies coming from Austria, Germany and Switzerland.
At present 11 organisations take part in "i-12", which represent nearly 60.000 individual members. (The name "i-12" indicates the number of the founding members.)
All of them work in IT-related areas (e.g. computer science, medicine, law, agriculture, education, ...).

"i-12" is open for all related IT-societies in the german speaking countries.

"i-12" organizes 4 - 5 yearly-meetings and special workshops and uses all possibilities of IT to foster communication in the meantime. At these meetings the delegates of the member societies and invited guests take part.

Mission

The mission of "i-12" concerns:

• Strategical issues of all social, political and cultural aspects of information-technology.
• Building bridges between the fields of activity of the member societies.
• Building and enhancing networks to foster the communication between these organizations and their individual members.

Activities

Activities of "i-12" include:

• To claim and foster responsibility in using information technology and computer-science and its applications.
• To claim and foster equal access to IT at all levels of education.
• To follow and to foster future technologies and their applications.
• To formulate strategies and disseminate them to the public and to decision makers.
• To utilize the activities and the special knowledge of the member-societies to build up synergies.

"i-12" is open to collaborate at special issues with other interested organizations throughout Europe, e. g. with IT-STAR.
